Choke Pull off needed for Volvo

We found out that the choke pull off for both of our engines were bad. We couldnt get the fuel/idle screws to do anything so we checked the pull offs and they didnt hold a vacuum.

We called the closest volvo dealer here in kentucky and they thought they had found two but called back saying they could not find them. Anyone know where we could possibly get two of them?

Volvo Penta 500A's.

They have two carbs listed on Volvo's website but Im pretty sure ours is this one:

http://www.volvopentastore.com/CARB...*****.674443806--store_id.366--view_id.329566

Part Number for the pull offs is 841997 and they call them Vacuum Switches.

Thanks for any help. :)

You could adjust the chokes .That item is a pull open device so that the choke plate is not completely closed at start up causing a over-choke or flooded condition.
mixture screws should show some sign of working unless clogged internally

A good auto parts store should carry them, there standard GM items.
This is old school:
We always plugged the hose and readjusted the choke with a 1/8 inch drill bit to gauge the choke plate gap when choke is closed on a cold engine.
A vac. leak is the hardest thing to deal with.

The choke works great if we leave the pull off's connected. The vacuum still pulls the choke open and the engines start great. For now weve plugged the vacuum off for the pull off and wired the choke open. The engines start but require some extra cranking when cold(its summer after all).

Weve tried napa and they couldnt get it. Weve also tried a Volvo Dealer as mentioned in the original post. Seems this isnt something we can just pick up or I would of already done that. :)

Can`t tell if it`s elec. or thermal but loosen the 3 screws and rotate housing to obtain the choke opening.no need to wire it full open.

How did you go about finding that?

And the part you were talking about with the screws is electrical. Can you explain to me why we need the electrical part AND the vacuum pull off?

What does the electrical part do?
