I have a 1989 Procraft 180 Fish and Ski. The prop has been replaced. It has a stainless. The problem is you cannot start off fast. You have to gradually give it the gas or it will act like a car that is spinning its tires. Then you will have to back of the gas and increase tha gas again slowly. Do I increase or decease pitch. Or where can I find out what size and pitch the stock prop was? Thanks for any help.

Re: Prop Help

The prop hub is either bad or the motor is ventilating. Remove the prop and mark the brass hub and stainess part of the prop with a sharpie. Reinstall and spin it a bit. Now check to see the marks are still lined up. if not, take it to a prop shop for a rehub. If they are lined up, the motor is ventilating due to too much trim or the mounting of the motor is too high.

Re: Prop Help

This is the same motor that came on the boat. Know problems until the prop was changed due to damage on old prop. What exactly is ventilating? Thanks!
