I have finally gotten started on the "resto" project on our 1977 Sylvan pontoon boat. We bought it last fall, but did not have a trailer to get it home. Got a trailer this past spring and finally got a chance to get her home.

The toon had no furniture on it and the fencing was an ugly "shag carpet green."

I picked up this 1971 60hp Johnson on eBay for $125! I'm in the process of getting it running and hope to be able to replace the 28hp that is currently on the toon.

Today we began by removing the fence:

We then cleaned the carpet under the fence:

Finally, we installed risers under the fence so water can run out:

I have new cream colored vinyl siding on order to replace the green aluminum siding. Hopefully it gets here in the next day or so.

Glad to see a toon in the resto section, I was starting to think they lasted forever:D Good luck with your project and I will be on the look out for the updates.

Got the new fencing tonight so here's a couple more pics, one with the old removed and with the new installed. I still have to do the doors.

Wow, just the new walls is a 100% improvement. Good start:).I think I saw that Johnson on e-bay and wondered why would anyone paint an engine to look like that ?

I ordered the furniture Friday morning and it was on my doorstep Saturday morning!! Kudos to pontoonstuff.com!!

I've got it all assembled and plan on putting it on the boat tonight! I'll snap some pics and get them up tomorrow if all goes well.

I have a friend that owns a sign shop so I'm going to take the boat to her and have her design some graphics for the side. I think the cream needs broken up.

My son and I got the furniture put on last night!! The set we ordered included 2 armrests, but it ended up being too long with the armrests on. We decided we were going to save them and order a 50in couch to put at the rear where the silver box is currently sitting.

We have to finish up the doors and rehang them and the major portions of the resto will be done. Im wanting to replace the bimini, but thats gonna have to wait for some more funds to magically appear!

Well, we have the major resto finished. We put the top back on, moved the battery inside behind the helm, and set it up to hold 2 gas tanks on the rear.

Tomorrow we are taking it to the sign shop to lhave graphics designed for it and then to a weld shop to have a bracket welded on for my depthfinder transducer.

In the future we want to add a couch to the rear and put a new bimini on it. I'd also like to add a radio and a house battery. As I make other updates I will come back to this post and add them.

I plan on doing some small things yet, like rewiring it, adding a radio, etc. I am also hoping to get the motor running and have it ready for next spring.

Oh definately!! I think I have the 60hp narrowed down to a bad amplifier. Everything else seems to be fine according to the tests in the manual. Just have to save up the $$ for the amp.

Any updates? Maybe a pic of the transducer bracket you had welded on?
