hi all im stuck! i had a spark plug gap close up on me on no.1 cylinder a couple of weeks ago so done a compression test and found them all to be around 110/115 psi so counted out piston rings someone sugested the reed valves so last week i took the carbs and inlet manifold off but all were in perfect condition! so the removed starboard cylinder head where i found a couple of fragments of something embedded in the head i have no idea what they are there are a quite few a indents to the top of the piston and the head the fragments are about a 8th of an inch long by about a 16th wide and look tapered to one edge but could just be mis shaped due to rattling around in the combustion chamber my hearts saying rings but my heads saying how when compressions were ok is there any way to check for sure without removing power head as this seems like quite a task and would i need any special toolsto do so? or does any one have any ideas as to what else it could have been? would be grateful for any help many thanks..... engine is a johnson 90hp v4 twin fitted with the vro2
