Will not start after rain-1976 70hp Evinrude

I accidentally left the cowl off the motor and it rained. Now it will not fire when I try to start it. Not getting spark. What did I do and how do I fix. Need the boat this weekend. Please Help.

Hopefully you have access to an air compressor. Spray the engine down with WD40, then blow it off with compressed air.

Did not work. Still no spark. Compression is good.

Disconnect large RED electrical plug at engine. Remove spark plugs. Crank engine by jumping starter solenoid. Do you have spark now?

If no spark with red plug connected BUT spark exists with it disconnected, replace ignition switch.
