New to forum looking for some help.
I have 1990 Tracker Sweet 16 with a 2000 Yamaha F40TLRY.
Have a Michigan Wheel Vortex 14" pitch aluminum prop.. With 2 people in the boat I can plane out at 6000 RPM and GPS of around 30mph, so I have to back down throttle or drop the nose to ease the RPMs. So, taking some others' advice, and wanting SS, I ordered a Michigan Wheel Apollo SS 15" pitch 10 1/8 diameter. It is 1" in pitch larger and appears to have a bit of a lip on the ends.
So I'm thinking it will drop my RPMs about 500 and add a little speed, where I want to be. Nope, I can't get it to rev over 5000 with only me in the boat.
Any ideas? I'm thinking of returning for a 14" Apollo.
Why did I looe about 1000 Rpm?
Thanks
Rob

Re: Prop Help

Call PowerTech in Louisiana and explain you circumstances. "Off the shelf" props are pretty much, well, off the shelf and could be most anything....including 'brand name" props.

Re: Prop Help

Is there that much difference between the props though?

Re: Prop Help

how does the setup look captivation plate in relation to bottom of boat. some props run closer to the surface you might need to lift the motor up some to get the most out of this prop. if you went from an allum 14 with no cup to an aggresive 15 ss with cup 150-200rpms for 1" pitch change 150-300 rpms for changing to an aggresive ss with cup so the other rpms could be obtained in lifting the motor this means so much my plates are always 3-6 " above bottom of boat for max performance can you post a pic of this area??
