I am trying to find the correct prop size/pitch for my 25' bayliner saratoga...the prop that is on the I/O drive appears to be a 17 (full throttle is 4000 rpm)
previous owner told me the prop was a size smaller do to Original prop being destroyed... now the time has come to replace this one... any other satatoga owners out here ?

Re: prop help

So pretty much 15p ...is what I want on there then?

also I pulled a # of the prop 48-74886a4- 17.... now I'm assuming that 17 is the pitch of that prop?

Re: prop help

Could be, a person may change the prop for different reasons. What is the WOT rated for that motor? That would determine to prop. Dropping down to a 15 P would probably give you close to 400 more RPM. The trick is to run the engine smoothly w/o loading down the engine. A 302 engine is probably a Ford engine and not all that powerful compared to most 350-360 engines. My buddy has a 24 ft Bay liner with a 350 engine(GM) w/ 4 barrel carb. It does like its' gas, he gets about 2 miles per gallon at 25 MPH.

Re: prop help

The Oringinal prop suffered a broken fin.. So they put a smaller prop on it.... I don't know for sure what the origiinal pitch was... all I was told when I bought it was it was a slightly smaller prop.... (this cruiser spent most of its life on lake michigan)

and yes the motor is a ford block...with a four brrl

Re: prop help

19 p is going to make that boat perform like crap. will probably take for ever to get on a plane. your wot rpms will be too low. like i said before id lean toward a 15. this will give best hole shot and best performance. recommended wot rpms for this motor is 4200-4600. 15p will put you around 4300- and a 19 will put you around 3700
