I have an aq225, chevy 305 that has an oil pan that is rusted through. I need to replace. Wondering if I can use an automotive pan, mercruiser pan, or do I have to go with the volvo part.

Thanks

GM pan will work if you know the capacity, and type of oil pickup tube.

repowering, boat originally cam with a aq151. It runs great, but came across this other boat with aq225 with bad pan. So I am going to repower this winter. Right now I am going to just going to prepare the lower leg and motor for the transplant.
Its a 87 barretta, Boat is in ok condition, but oil mess from leak.

Yesterday we got the motor out of the boat and the pan and starter look like they have pretty bad acne.

Get the starter rebuilt.
Remove the pan, inspect the interior, if the exterior just needs paint...
Take the pan to any Chevy dealer to identify, deeper sump, windage tray.
After you id the pan, you can find a used one almost anywhere.

Took pan off today, there is a lot of surface rust, and one little pin hole. Amazing the mess that one pin hole can make inside a boat.

Time to start looking for a new pan.
