I have this engine on a heavy 22 foot pontoon. I just bought the boat and the engine only has 42 hours on it. I am only getting 4500 RPMS the book says 5500-6000 rpms. I have a 14/13 prop. I can go as low as a 14/10 prop. That would bring it up to about 5100 RPMS. Do you have any ideas. IS this my problem?

There are some pontoon specific props for that motor that go down to an 11 pitch. What brand prop do you have now? Condition? We assume the motor runs correctly, right?

If the motor doesn't cavitate you could possibly try raising the motor a little. That will gain some rpm.

You might check that the throttle is opening all the way.If your not having any venting(cavitation)problems you may be able to raise the motor a little.
won't do too much on a pontoon but will help some.If your sure the setup is right there is a 9" listed here.
Great minds run in the same track^.I seem to be a little late.

those big foots have a big diameter prop with low hp so yes u need to be in the 9-10 pitch range big foots were made for torque not speed
