Hello,
I have a 1993 i/o 4.3L Mercruiser (s/n 0f021283)
i need to replace a bearing in the upper drive unit and a couple gears...i want to be sure that i get the right parts.. but, im having trouble deciding if i even have an Alpha Gen I or Gen II ( i think its Gen II from my research)

i pulled some numbers off the upper drive unit itself.
The number on the Drive that is affix to the boat reads (ofo58613)
The number on the Upper unit reads 1.84R and then followed by (od885766)

i'm guessing the 1.84R = ration of gears and the other number is the s/n for that upper unit.

BUT, i have searched everywhere and using the Search engines.. turns up "No Product Found" Grrr...

Does anyone have a good link to parts for this eng. type and Drive?

Thank you in advance

Re: Mercruiser Ident??

Thanks Rick...but

i get same thing... nothing found!
i ran all the numbers i have on this site you provided....double checked the numbers...the are correct... i tried zero's and O's in place.. still nothing either way... got a better place?

also i spoke with a a guy at Bass Pro Shop in the boating dept. he said i prolly had a Gen I because Gen II's didnt come out till well after 1993.. can anyone agree? or disagree?

Thanks

Re: Mercruiser Ident??

Series 1, R,MR,Alpha 1 all use nuts to assemble the drive
Alpha GEN II`s have 2 nuts and bolts on each side
1.84 is the correct ratio for the 4.3

Great !
a simple visual check is what i needed.
soo Gen I's will have Studs that nuts will tighten to. and Gen II's use Bolts/nuts Only? if im reading that right?
im assuming that's where the upper and lower units are put together?
