1. I come from a winter free land and am planing to move to Massachusetts. I see a lot of people mentioning of winterized boats
what is this and how is it done?

2. been told a lot to "get my carbs done" but am trying to learn to do all by my self (with your help) what exactly is meant by "getting them done"?
how do I do it? where do I learn in detail?

thanks in advance!

Re: Carbs

Depends what kind of boat you have, an IO requires a bit more winterizing than an outboard.

With an outboard you wnat to get the gas out of the carbs by draining them and fog the cylinders and change the lower oil that is pretty much it, not super sure on an IO but it is certainly something you can do yourself in an afternoon, change oil, drain the block of water, change lower oil.

Good to know how to do basic stuff yourself.

Many many threads on winterising here. Do a search and take your pick.

You can winterize your boat but there is no way to winterize a Phoenician!!! You'll always miss the sun (and Suns):D
For your carbs, just name the year and model of your engine and you can get the advice you need. First and foremost, buy an OEM manual it will save you hours and hours of time. Did my carbs for the first time this year and it was one of the more easier things I had to do. Good luck

Re: Carbs

Hah-hah, my mistake. Phoenix-PR - Sand, Sun, and Spanish (eerily similar):D

Getting your carbs "done" means pulling them off and checking them out. Usually involves getting a "Carb Kit" as well. Carb kits come with the various gaskets and the most common replacement needs such as floats, needles, bushings etc. Varies from carb to carb. Could involve soaking them in solvent or more extensive maintenance depending on the situation (how dirty, how old, etc.). I am not familiar with your particular engin. Hopefully this will bump you back up top where someone may be able to offer more info on your model. Still...get an OEM manual so you can do it right.
