I just bought a boat with a yamaha 225 Ocean outboard ... It has been working fine for the first several outings. Now it it hard to shift form Reverse to Neutral and then to forward. Seems to work fine going from Neutral to forward or Neutral to reverse but controller is hard to push when it goes from either through Neutral. The Shifter feels locked up and a hard push is needed. From Reverse or Forward once it goes to Neutral controller is hard to push to opposite direction. It seems to not be going to Neutral but almost skipping so it is hard to push forward or back. I had it service when purchased and they checked Lower unit and put new seals and oil in lower unit so I am wondering if it is a cable problem or where a shifting problem would occur. Any ideas would be appreciated - thanks

Not an "expert" opinion but if you disconect the linkage at the motor and try moving controler thru the gears this should tell you wether its in the cable or the linkage.
