So ive been told this motor runs fine and ive heard it run. How do i tell the water pump is working? As I think I understand it water should come out the two holes just below the engine shroud but at what point? I have yet to see that. I presume this wouldnt be seen until the thermostat kicks in? How long then would I need to let it run at idle before seeing this? How long is too long? Obviously I dont want to wait till there is engine damage before realizing the water pump is not working. Im running it with ears if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

The water won't flow out those holes till the thermostats open. That engine has battery CD ignition, plus a hydro-electric gearcase. Unless in top condition, it could be a real money pit.
