Hi everyone
Frist time on, just found the site, from Alberta.

Anyways I own a 1984 Baylinner
Just replaced the button so I can release the lock on the 270 leg when rasing it. Sould be locked for reverse.
Question is.... Should the leg be locked when driving forward.
I would thing not ,so if it hits a rock the leg could lift and not break off.
If it should not lock how do you set it up .

Second question.
Q125A with a solex carb

When shifting from neutral to forward engine runs fine.
Then push the lever forward alittle more into next postion
(you can fell alittle bump in the linkage ) then engine wants to stall.
When looking down the carb the butterfly just opens.
Primer pump on carb works good.
What I do so it will not stall is, pump the lever back and forth between 1 and 2nd gear as i call it. and engine will speed up and not stall .how do i fix it?

Third Question
The lake water pump seems tobe leaking . Have not taken it apart yet.
Is that shaft being driven having a rear seal or oring as it seems like the leek is on the back side and not the front plate.

Thanks for any relpies

For the leg, i dont know much about those but from what i understand they do not lock in forward, but they will in reverse, also these wont go into reverse unless drive is all the way down and the light is out, atleast mine wont.

The carb it sounds like your booster jet isnt working, Looks like an upside down J, probably time for a carb cleaning, does the engine catch up on rpms when u go or does it stall all together. Its supposed to give u an extra squirt of gas when u accelerate. These are also cold blooded engines and dont like to move when there blow 180deg. Thermostats dont open till 180 and fully open at 189.

Have the same problem on my raw water pump too, you need a new sealing ring, PN 827247 #12 in picture

If you have the extra $ get the rebuild kit and it comes with a new cam, bushings and shaft, and redo the pump also good time to check the impeller.

You can look on ebay too i seen the kits sell on there too, the seal is also included in the rebuild kit.

Re: Volvo leg and carb

Thanks Kamby
The primer pump does give it a little skirt on the solex carb as i can make it skirt by manualy bushing or pulling on the lever .
I did notice the carb having 3 adjustment screw .
1) Idle stop screw -ok
2) low idle air screw, (bottom rightside of carb) - ok at 1 turn out
3) Air screw, just found last night (top front of carb )
Found adjusted at 1/8 out only.
Never seen one of these screws on a carb.
Anyone know how this one should be adjusted.

It should squirt when you use the throttle, your lever might not be adjusted right. If it does when you do the throttle then you may need a tune up, these are finicky engines on maitanance.
