going out to do this today. are there any hidden bolts to know about when dropping this lower unit? I see a inspection plate on the leg is this were I break the shaft to drop it? thanks Ted
im not sure if this motor is the super quiet model but u need to take off the outer shell by 8 philip head screws. then there is a hidden bolt where the exhuast exits
pulled the lower unit bolts opened the cover plate on leg exposed 2 3/8 bolts on looks like the shaft lossened them no action on dropping the lower unit wont budge BTW do I need to mark anything before I seperate this unit? thanks
Ive removed 6 lower bolts and removed the bottom bolt under inspection plate the shaft is loose but lower unit wont budge do I need to remove that philips on the lower unit to get it to drop?
DO NOT take out the phillips screw.
There may be a 7th bolt that is hidden by the outer exhaust cover on some models. If there is not a hidden bolt, then the driveshaft may be rusted into the crank.
I can't see a hidden bolt anywhere afraid to pry to hard on it. Im guessing It must just be rusted real good.anything work to get it to break loose? I can imagine how that impeller is going to be to get out.
