i have a old house boat (1969) and im only get a trick of water out of the line from the out drive to the engine, so the engine is not getting realy any water at all and to replace the waterpump in the outdrive is going to cost waay to much to have a 55 foot boat removed and then have water pump rebuilt and then getting boat back to the water, i have been looking at raw water puts that are belt driven, any one know where i can get one for a ford 302/mercruiser aka 1969 model?

Ayuh,... You'll need to find or build the bracketry for whomever's pump you decide to buy,...
You might find a bolt-on unit from someone who marinized Fords for Inboard applications...
And,.. You'll need a thru-hull fitting to draw water from....

The current incoming line should be capped off inside the boat,+ cut the hose under the transom assembley, so it'll circulate...

Good Luck,+ Welcome Aboard....

Nope,... You need a crankshaft or belt driven impeller pump...

Re: no water from outdrive to engine

You could put a raw water pump on it.. pleasure craft was one of the engine manufacturers that comes to mind...they had setup with a belt driven raw water pump on it, also Walkashu is another one.......I know I spelled it wrong.
If you are going to do what I think you are.....pull water up from the same hose coming from the drive...please don't...you will suck up whats left of the old pump and trash your new pump..
Best just to replace the pump in the drive and be done with it....
I know it sucks, but sometimes you just got to bite down hard.
A better way to look at it is....you'll have time for some bottom maintenance while she's up..painting,zincs and such.

it is a 1969 mercury out drive and the engine and lower unit are both outside on rear deck, there is a plate that the outdrive is mounted to and the engine is mount in a cradel in front of that with plat under it, back of boat is like a big u shape with engine and outdrive in middle with cover over it that doubles as a table! but is removable to get in to engine to work on

sounds....bizzare to say the least. I would probably just do a pump in the drive as well, mostly because its a good excuse to put new zincs on, and thats always a good thing to do. I've seen a lot of Merc drives just go away because of poor anode maintenance.

Pleasurecraft is also the first thing that comes to mind for belt drive stuff though. They made a lot of ski boat engine packages, and those were almost always a straight inboard with a through-hull pickup.
