Modifying bimini frame to fit?

Anyone done it? I scored one for just about nothing, and it's in decent shape. Even has almost new fabric save for a few small wear holes from the screws in the frame. I am thinking the mounting lines up to my windshield frame. I could mount it there, as the guy I had bought it from did. I would think it would interfere with my cover, which snaps on at the base of my windshield.

In the middle of typing this, I just went out and measured, and it looks like where the bows go together, they are sleeved inside by smaller diameter tubing, held to one side by rivets, and by the other with screws, I will assume there is some adjustability there, as the tubing is all the way in. If I am wrong, I'm sure I can get some tubing that will fit inside so I can make it wider.

Am I assuming correctly?

Ya that will work, I went the other way and made mine narrower but you can go bigger too.

Just make sure your insert is going way into the top, biminis take a real beating and you will need all the support you can get.

And after you reassemble for width..use rivets, screws tend to back out..2 at end of insert and 2 at beginning of insert, after i pinch off the rivets..i tap them with a ball peen.never comes loose..and mine suffer thru speeds up to 85 GPS MPH..Good deal.
