converting 3.0 to v8???

Just playing with the idea... I was wondering how much trouble it would be. I know that my 2000 stingray 190rs has the same bellhousing as a sbc and was wondering how hard it would be. I have a 1 piece rear main 350 block with aluminum heads and thought it would be fun if all you had to do was change the exhaust manifolds to go into my alpha one drive.

opinions?

Depends on exactly WHAT motor is in there now, inline GM 4, or inline GM 6 or V-6

All I know about it is that its a 2000 GM Mercury 3.0 with a 2 barrell carb.

A Stingray with a V8 would be a site see. I would estimate it would be so fast it would either fly away or disintegrate at wot.

Aluminum anything is a bad idea unless the block and manifolds are FWC.
To install a V motor you need the exaust system, need to fabricate new front motor mounts that may include a stronger stringer system.Other than that ?

Re: converting 3.0 to v8???

I know that the boat came out in a V6 form, as far as difference in stringer system I am not sure.

I was wondering on the front motor mounts.

I dont see why a V8 would be too much motor for a 19.4 foot boat. I have seen plenty of 18.5 foot boats with V8's.

If I were to do a 4.3 would the front mounts work BT?

The inlines front mount is totally different than what is needed for a V motor

Building new mounts are probably the easiest part of the installation.
