Filling small holes - what to use

I have a lot of small screw holes that I need to fill. I found on the forums that auto bondo was not advisable. Any suggestions?

FYI, there were a lot of holes that a previous owner made when installing snaps for a now long gone cover. There are some others that are there for no reason so I have a holey boat at the moment.

You can fill them with marine tex, or fill them with resin, then use a gel coat patch kit...

NOT BONDO! Bondo is for cards!

Well your close....... do a google search for Bondo Marine Epoxy Stick.

It is a stick of 2 part epoxy that you tear off a chunk and knead it ....... then jam it into the holes and smooth out. If you have access to the back side of the holes squeeze it in from both sides. Dries fairly quick and if it needs sanding you are okay. Marine Tex putty works too but much more money and tough to sand.

Many hardware stores carry marine epoxy sticks so getting it locally is even better. Save the unused portion in a small baggie and keep it in your tool box/glove box on the boat.... for emergencies..... it will do a fuel tank if needed.

Bondo will actually absorb and hold moisture- that's why cars fixed with it tend to rust. Not good for your application.
