I'm a newb here, not really all that new to boats, and deffinatley not new to working on things. [Cars mainly, been a Benz tech for 7 years.]

Boats are a little bit of a different beast from cars though, and my motor isn't charging.

From what I've read, the rectifier seems to be the cause of a lot of charging issues with this motor, and I'm pretty sure the rectifier is the little cap lookin' thing on the drivers side of the motor with 3 little wires coming out of it....is that right?

And if that is it, what are the procedures for testing it? What should my values be? I don't have a manual for the motor, heck, I wouldn't even know where to get one, though I'd love to have one.

Thanks a lot, and I'll be looking through a lot more stuff here since my boat's gonna get a new floor this coming winter.

Well don't I just feel like a big fool....

Here I spent almost 2 hours searching old threads for what I was looking for, and in doing so, completely overlooked the FAQ section in this area.

Well, It's toast and I have a new one on the way. I've been a member for all of a few days and this board has come to my rescue already...I love it.

And again, I'm sure I'll be around asking annoying questions about silly stuff as I start tearing into my boat in the fall.
