24/1...... 1 quart of 50/1 TCW-III 50/1 oil to 6 gallons of gasoline. A octane rating of 87 will be fine. Spark plugs are Champion J6C, gapped at .030 .

I have the '51 version of that engine (the 4443) . It's a great runner.

But are you sure it's a 4447 and not a 4441? A 4441 is a '52, I see no 4447 listed.

4441 = 14hp, 1951
4443 = 7.5hp, 1951-52
4444 = 7.5hp, 1951-52
4447 = 7.5hp, 1952
4448 = 7.5hp, 1952

thats the only number i can find on this motor is 4447 at the evinrude site they are saying 1958 and older to mix it 20:1 is that true.

I use 24:1 in all my old engines. I use the pennzoil full synthetic tcw-3 which is a good oil and biodegradable... And I've never had an oil related failure... that I know of :)

I'm with samo, that's what I use too. Actually, the original mix for that motor was 16:1 (1/2 pint per gallon). Some will say that it needs that much.
