4.3L mercruiser do i have a crack block

I took my boat out after a couple of hours i noticed my boat bogging down i noticed there was some water in the boat and the bilge pump wasnt coming on i drove it to land to take it out of the water. I opened the motor cover and seen a yellowish thick fluid everywhere i checked the oil and the dipstick was full off that yellowish fluid, it had a fuel smell to it also i dont know if it would be a cracked block or something else please help me out i just bought the boat.

Yes, it's likely your block is cracked.

To confirm, change the oil, hook it up to earmuffs in the driveway/yard and run it. If the oil fills up with water again, you can do a cooling system pressure test, but the end result is most likely going to be needing a new engine.

The less common issue could be severe fuel flooding, and the water in the bilge may be another issue.

You're going to have to clean things up, drain the boat, change the oil and see what happens when you run it on land (with earmuffs).

I have a 4.3 OM Cobra with the same cracked block problem.
Same yelllow foam and have taken the motor apart to confirm it is cracked, and might I add, cracked very well!

My own stupidity for not properly winterizing... anyway.

I have found a replacement block from Rapido Marine in Florida. They tell me the proper block is a Chevy 4.3 262, the price seems very good and they seem to know what they are talking about. Before I ship my credit card info to FL and hope I recieve a block, does anyone know anything about them?

Many people on the boards are running Rapid-O engines.

i dont know if it would be a cracked block i just bought the boat.

I too would recommend Rapido.........just passed 100hrs on my 5.7L Vortec!!

I would check the manifold and riser before condemning the block. Could also be a head or head gasket problem.

Best of luck in finding the milk shake maker.

that yellowish fluid, is it coffee colored (with cream )? kind for foamy?
