Anyone ever use these? I was looking for something for a non-swimmer to wear on board without using a life jacket (too hot) but still be safe. will these keep you above water? I see water skiers wear them all the time.
I was also thinking about a Mustang self-inflating vest, but they are a bit pricey, and don't know how hot they would be?

They are not Coast Guard approved. The self inflating models are great, not hot at all... :)

Re: Float belts???

I've used them many times while skiing.
Now days, I have 7 skii belts of different sizes for my guests, and I have full vests for all my family.
I would say they help you float, but don't make you float by themselves.

I don't use these ones with people who can't swim; they are swim aids not a PDF.

I have a self inflating vest. It's great for fishing or cruising. Very comfortable on hot days, meets all regulations, and will get me out of a jam.

Re: Float belts???

Float belts are not for non-swimmers. Nothing can replace the use of a pfd... I give you that a swimmer could use one with no problem, but if the swimmer were to hit something and get unconscious a float belt will no prevent a person from drowning.
