I'm going to assume you are speaking of the engine trim on a mercruiser i/o such as an Alpha or Bravo, if thats not what you are talking about - Its NOT 30w engine oil but it is if thats what you are reffering to.

Please check your engine manual first though, I dont know everything!

What type of oil goes in the trim pump.

Ayuh,... Pretty much ANY light weight oil.....10W is Best(ATF, P/S. fluid),... 30W will Work...90W is Too Thick...

Mine says 20 weight motor oil

My Mercruiser mini Manual from 1990 says 10w30 and thats what I've been running with no issues.
