ok i have 90hp johnson thats been giving me alot of problems lately. it has a little trouble starting but once started it will rev up fine in neutral. Once you put it in gear though it will normally bog and sometimes stall completely.

At wot it takes a min for it to plane out but wont rev all the way up, i havnt been able to get it over 30mph. I dont have a tach so im not sure what its revving to but it has a much quieter exhaust note.

ive cleaned and rebuilt the carbs, changed the fuel pump, spark plugs and wires, switched tanks and still no luck. Ive pretty much run out of ideas so any help would be appreciated.

linc n sinc done? have you check compression, have you pull spark plug wires. individually, while it is idling to see if it is running on all cylinders? if it is running on that cylinder, when you pull the wire, you will here the change in rpms. if no change, that cylinder is not running.

what's the motor on and what was your experience with your boat and motor before you started having problems?

havnt checked compression yet, all cylinders are running but something i did notice is my choke isnt working now. Not sure if its related but when the motor ran good, at idle if you push the choke in it would bog the motor, now its not doing anything.

17' Boston Whaler, it ran great till about a month ago, i could pull wakeboards and tubes no problem and it would run at about 50mph on a flat day.

definitely check the compression. also, check the rpms when running. also, check the spark plugs, they could say a lot. the more general diagnostics checked, the better diagnosis can be made.

BTW, it'd really help out a lot more if you can give the model number.
