I just purchased a 1977 Glastron 174 with a Mercuriser 165. The fuel tank is in the front of the boat and appears to be of metal construction. The outside of the fuel tank looks worn, but for the most part there is no rust (aluminum?) and it seems to be in good shape. Will the new ethanol blended fuels hurt this tank? Should I replace with a plastic tank in the future?

Re: Metal Fuel tank

no. Just make sure you have new alcohol resisitant fuel lines. The new E-10 fuel has a side effect....... it cleans tanks!
