I was on the lake last weekend when my 89 Four Winns acted like it ran out of gas. I got a tow up to the marina and put fuel in. Still acting the same way. I lifted the dog house and it ran a little better but still not 100%. I did notice that I must have blown a seal on the right side of the engine, as water was getting blown all over the engine block. Could it be the distributer was wet? The fuel/water seperater needs to be replaced? Is there another inline fuel filter I need to check? Please help.

We need more info. You should see if you can find the leak and let us know what was leaking.

Also dry everything and see if it'll start.

Re: Help with 5L Cobra

The upper hose running from the high rise elbow to the intermediate pipe had a hole blown in it. It was old and corroded anyway. I just took it off to try to find a replacement. I started the engine up with the ears on it to find the leak. It started fine. I didnt run it long enough to see if it was still sputtering though. Could it be there isnt enough back pressure to let the engine run correctly?
