No Reaction .... help!

Hello all ....

I have a 23' CC with a pair of 20 year old Merc 115s on it. I had the starter rewound on the port engine and last week it was firing fine but now I get nothing .... not even a groan or a click. I thought it must be a fuse but I replaced the fuse and still nothing.

Any help troubleshooting this issue?

The batteries are fully charged and the battery isolator is set properly. the trim and tilt is working fine. Could it be the ignition?

What else?

All help is greatly appreciated.:)

Yes it sounds like a ignition problem, If your engine is ADI ignition then here's the system test.

Re: No Reaction .... help!

A test light and a remote starter button can be very helpful.

Connect on side of the remote starter button to the positive battery cable at the starter solenoid, connect the other to the small terminal on the solenoid with the yellow wire with the red trace. Bump the button, does the starter work? If so, then your problem lies between the ignition switch and the solenoid. Maybe the starter safety switch in the shift control.

If the starter does not work, then use the test light to ensure power at the battery cable. Disconnect and sand clean both ends of both battery cables and the short jumper cable from the solenoid to the starter motor.

Retest.

Thanks a lot guys. I won't be able to get back on it for a few days but will try some of these ideas when I do.
