I have a 1988 johnson V6 150 hp motor, ithas recently been tuned up and had a poxer pack replaced. now i am having a problem getting air. built in tank with auto vent built in. it runs great then will shut down when it does the bulb on the gas line is completely sucked in flat. i have recently replaced gas lines and bulb. at one time the boat had 3 tanks and currently i am only using 1 of them, but they all are hooked up to something and then one line goes to the motor. I am wondering what that something is and can i bypass it and run straight from the tank to the motor in doing so I would hope that would fix the problem. Any help and advice would be great. Thanks

Re: fuel/air problem

its hard to picture , but cant you dissconect the last feed to the tank you are using ? as long as that tank is vented that should work.b/c from what you are saying it sounds like a venting problem is still there.

What do you mean disconnect the last feed to the tank?
All lines from all tanks go to one thing and i am not sure what that is? I premix my oil and gas because VRO has been disconnected and capped off.
Can I bypass whatever all the fuel lines go to? Then just have one line straight from the tank to the motor?
I know I am not making much sense but I am trying and thanks for trying to help me!

Re: fuel/air problem

After looking at it again last night whatever the gas lines go to from the tank has two wires going to it a red one on one side and a black one to the other side and there is a sticker on that says something about 8 psi max see fuel data sheet. 1. What is this? 2. can I bypass this and run the fuel line straight to the motor?

Re: fuel/air problem

That thing that the gas lines go to with the two wires may be a electrically controlled valve that is used to select which tank to draw gas from, I would bypass it and run a gas line straight from tank you plan to use, to the priming bulb, and plug the hoses going to the other unused tanks. I think that is what you were suggesting anyways and that would be correct.
