Re: Saturn Korean made boats

I've had the SD470 for about three months. It's my first boat. I take it out once a week on average for SCUBA (three divers, six tanks) and store it inflated on the trailer in my garage. I'm very happy with it. I got it over the others out there because it has the aluminum floor and is about 1/2 to 1/3 the price of others. Just by looking at it and comparing to others at the boat show my untrained eye could not see a difference in build quality or material (PVC). The glued on attachments such as handles and rings are VERY tough. Only time will tell. I've had it out in some scary rough conditions and it held up.

Some of the other Saturn models have a painted wood floor. Mine has a piece of this in the nose section. It gets hot in the sun and is very slippery when wet. The paint scratches/rubs off with use. If you go that route, think about some kind of coating, carpet, or star board.

Re: Saturn Korean made?? inflatable boats

Thanks for your reply. Not a lot of information (besides advertisements) for these boats. I'm wondering if they are better than the Chinese made boats. I own a Chinese one and am pretty happy except for I think that the bottom is not thick enough and I'm thinking of selling it.

More info on the Saturns and where and how they are made would be great. Thanks.

I have a 15' 2005 Baltic I got off eBay new in 05 for around 1K. Affordable Inflatable?s you can still find them on eBay 1500 now. I use it almost every weekend. First thing I did is get a piece of 3/4 inch plywood and cut a new front half of floor to replace the small bow piece and the one behind it (now a 3 piece floor). This fixes the front buckling issue you will have in swells. As for the PVC I have had an Avon 89-94 and this boat is holding up just as well. No leaks the seams are tough and very well done. I have a 40hp and the transom handles it just fine. All these boat including Saturn come from one of a few manufactures over seas and are all basic the same boat. For the money I am impressed with the PVC boat I already have used it twice as much as I expected it to last for the $1000. I would buy another one without hesitation if anything happened to this one. And NO I am not affiliated just a happy customer.
