johnson 5.5 bogs down

i have a johnson seahorse 5.5 horse that runs fine for a while when you first start it but after a while at full throttle it starts to lose power. it just starts to die and you have to reduce the throttle in order to keep it running but then it wont go any higher than that anymore. once it cools it runs fine again for a little while and then does the same thing.

what could this be and is there a way i can fix it?

Sounds like she's running on one cylinder - probably a bad coil which fails when it heats up.

how difficult is this to fix
or how expensive is it to have it fixed professionally?

Most pro's dont work on the old engines. New coils are $25 each or so. Easy to install if you are mechanically inclined. I'd also clean the carb when you're in there.

Which model # is it?

Coils are under the flywheel - not too difficult to remove if you have a flywheel puller - here's a link to the procedure:
