My problem is I have fuel spraying out of this screw. Said to be idle jet which is just a non adjustable screw with a tiny hole in it as illustrated:
high_speed_jet.jpg

I am devoting my attention to these as illustrated because I believe there is improper vacuum and/or the plugs aren't put in the right places. These orifices on the sides, what are they? The fuel spraying from the jet appears to be coming from the bowl via the orifice on the port side as it isn't plugged in any of three carbs as shown in picture # 3. As you can also see in images #1 and #2, those large holes on the side inside my indication are NOT plugged, should they be? Please, what are they called? My diagram doesn't show this at all.

EDIT (REMOVED)

Got too far ahead of myself.

Commencing deep breath procedure.

One thing at a time, sorry, I get anxiety and go off with questions without realizing how annoying it is for you all.

Re: Carb questions (Pictures)

You didn't say what engine (Year, HP, model number) we're talking about, so it makes things a little more difficult. There's a big difference between a 45 and 70 hp motor, so by looking at pictures in the manual you should easily be able to tell which one you have, plus the model number is stamped on a small plate on the transom bracket, this will tell what you need to know.

If fuel is blowing out the carb throat, then it may have nothing to do with the carb, it can't direct which way the fuel goes, it can only react to how other things affect it. Bad reeds can let crankcase pressure blow back though the carb and spray fuel out.

Re: Carb questions (Pictures)

Sorry, I guess I wasnt clear. This is a followup to a previous post, I've been dealing with these issues for a few weeks now and some of the members and BOD have been assisting me.

Im pretty sure it's a 1989 70, the model id plate is gone. Wish it wasnt.

If you'de like, you can check my prior posts to catch up if you're willing to try and help me.

Thanks

Re: Carb questions (Pictures)

the hole in the second picture is suppose to have a core plug, like the one on the top of the carb. here is a diagram of your carb.

Well by God... Thats for an 89? I think I have the same diagram but it doesnt show #14 (diafram plug)

However, neither of our diagrams show those orifices going down to the bowl as it does in my picture?

Re: Carb questions (Pictures)

somethings are hard to draw.
the red small tube, is the low speed pick up tube, the outer is the high speed tube. the yellow is the overflow, that goes to the screen on the side.

you are over thinking things. making it harder, than it is. you have several post scattered and are having a hard time, keeping everything together.

drive to Jacksonville, i will have you running in 2 hours, if you have a viable motor.

Re: Carb questions (Pictures)

Shoot.. That #14 isnt a plug it's the throttle shaft washer.

But it does make sense to plug that side as it's plugged on the bottom. Maybe that'll let that jet suck insted of blow.

I think you're right about the over thinking, I have anxiety issues :eek::eek:
