I have a 1978 800 - 4 cylinder. Runs great, starts right up etc....I bought in on Ebay last year. It had been meticulously cared for - records etc. Since it runs great I don't want to mess with it - but....starts right up etc plenty of power - but I know the throttle linkage doesn't open all the way. This is fine because it is on a 16' Starcraft that weighs 450 pounds. But sometimes at alomst full throttle - the motor just "pops" like someone hit it with nitrous - it finds another gear.
Thoughts - it runs on 3 cylinders and at enough RPM the 4th fires (if this was happening it would be spitting unused gas out the exhaust which isn't happening)
The linkage pops and jumps it up.
Any thoughts?
