Boat on the pavement

Hi All,

I saw my first tragic situation this holiday weekend. Coming home from the shore on Sunday I saw a nice sized boat lying on the pavement on the side of the road. The rig was about 100 yards up the road on the same side. Behind the boat was a cargo van with his 4 way lights on. The boat looked pretty beat up from hitting the pavement. Now, my question is simple, how do they gt the boat off the payment and back on trailer while on the shoulder of a busy highway?

with the winch. and hopefully they have a tilt trailer. hefty ticket from highway patrol for an unsecured load.

My neighbor had a similar incident with his two month old boat over the weekend as well. Dropped it on a concrete ramp. Lesson learned about not undoing the winch strap until backed into the water. Roller trailers are designed for easy launch and retreival.

oh man, if he doesn't have a tilt trailer, that tow bill is gonna suck!

tilt trailer, vehicle in neutral, the winch will pull the boat up and tow vehicle back. obviosly, more than one person required (hmm hmm...not like i've ever been party to such folly...no!)

i wonder how bad the boat fared in this mess.
