I have a chance to buy a 1986 sportcraft center console with 86 merc 115. freshwater use and owner states runs well. Are these ok motors? Is it oil injection or do I have to mix gas? DO these suffer from the brittle wiring problems of the late 70's motors and how do the trim/tilt systems hold up. help please, buy the way he is asking 2600.00 including boat, motor and trailer.

The motors themselves are a standard design. The condition of this motor is a question. It is likely oil injected, however, some will say you should premix and disconnect injection.
If the motor runs, it is proabaly worth the price of the package.
