Has anyone used or installed underwater launching lights. What lights did you use and where did you get them? Do they work? I am in the process of redoing a trailer and like the idea. Thanks for any info.

Re: Underwater Launching Lights

I can't say I've ever seen the need to have lights under the water, but I launch mostly at well lit ramps and my truck has rear facing spot lights.
I'd think that a pair of guide on poles with high mounted tail lights would to just as well with less aggravation.

I would also think that any epoxy sealed LED light would work fine underwater like that, but it's only something else to maintain.
I did see one guy who took those LED lights in a tube like they use for outdoor deck railings and such, which work on 12V, and ran a strip of them down each frame rail powered by his break away battery, (Electric Brakes). But that was in freshwater. I suppose saltwater would make short work of such lights, or electric brakes for that matter.

All those frills and extras seem like a waste of money to me.

i don't have a link or name but i've seen trailers that have switch boxes that are activated when submerged. pretty cool but also just one more thing to break.

most un-plug there lights-brake connector before going in water so not sure how this would work. wouldn't be able to do this.
seems a set of guides would work as well?

As TD said. I just leave the trailer lights plugged in and it is just like a runway. Works great.

Re: Underwater Launching Lights

I too leave me trailer pluged in. My lights are LED. I tow with an Avalanche so lights are automatic. Trailer looks like a landing pad under water.

I have looked into the rope lighting for the trailer. Not so much for loading, just thought it would look neat:D

Get yourself some LED lights and wire the grounds right back to the plug. Then leave em plugged in when you back in.

Re: Underwater Launching Lights

it's kind of hard to see here, but I put this at the base of the wench post
and give it it's own plug, wired to the marker lite wire, since I unplug the trailer lites and if it is dark or getting dark and I have the truck markers on, I just plug this in and no matter the angle of the trailer it shines down the length of the trailer.

Re: Underwater Launching Lights

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will just leave the trailer plugged in and use the led's to guide me. I really try and get out of the water before it gets dark. Almost done with the resto, I will post pics.
