Anyone used one of these?

First, I would like to thank everyone on this forum. Because of this, I now have the courage to tackcle my transom and floor replacement myself. I was just curious if anyone has used this or something like it to remove things like the inner fiberglass skin, sections of stringers, etc. Thanks ahead for any replies.

i use Ryobi 18 volt tools myself. i've had really good luck with them.

I wouldn't mind having one from ryobi, went to home depot and lowes and they did not have any thing close, however my local harbor freight has tons of these. It just looks like it would cut in the corners a lot quicker then a cut off wheel, with alot less dust. The black attachment is some sort of metal cutting or scraping bit.

Hmmmm.....I think I like that a lot. Just happen to have a Harbor Freight right down the street. For 39 bucks I think I might go pick one up!

I would guess that anything beyond tediously slicing through drywall or sanding three square inches, that tool is pretty much completely useless.

I also have a set of 18v Ryobi tools and use them constantly. I do recommend (highly) getting the dual battery charger and two extra batteries, as they are Ni-Cad batteries which don't last for crap. So far, though, the lithium ion set is priced so far above the ni-cad, your ROI is better buying new batteries every other year than to buy the li-ion set.

Beyond the ryobi set, I recommend a plugin skil saw and jig saw, as those both tend to drain the battery too fast to be useful on a large scale.

An industrial multi use vibrator??? That thing would probably give you numb hands really quick but that scraper thingy might work slick.

My Ryobi 18v cordless sawzall was a godsend during my restoration.. I did keep running into dead battery problems tho, which is odd because I just bought 2 brand new batteries a few months ago. Anyone else have that issue?

I have set of cordless dewalts, corded 4 1/2" grinder, ryobi skill and jig saw, die grinder and a few other pneumatic tools. It just seems this would really cut well in the corners of the transom and corners of the stringers. Just hoping to cut down on some of the rebuild time. Trying to finish before summer ends.

I've been wanting to get one of those. It's a newish tool design that most of the major manufacturers seem to be replicating.

If you guys haven't seen one, it's not a wimpy tool. With the right blade it can cut metal or fiberglass, or sand, or remove grout, etc.

I don't know if harbor freight's model is good or not, but I've seen the Ryobi model, and it kicks butt.

If you haven't seen a demo of one of these, go do so, they look like they'd save a ton of time in certain jobs.

So I went out and bought one this afternoon, and holy $h*t does that thing cut smooth and fast. Did a test cut on the underside fiberglass skin of my tank cover. It cuts leaving almost nothing left to grind with very little dust. The vibration is almost unnoticable. For an extra $5.00 you can get 1 year in store, free exchange with no questions asked($10.00 for 2 years). I think this will realy cut back on the down time of any restore.
