Need to know what it is that you're torquing down. Head , block, etc. I'm assuming you're replacing a head gasket, but want to make sure.

Re: 1992 90HP Force Torque Specs?

Head torque depends on the serial number for the 90HP. S/N 093699 and higher. torque to 120 INCH pounds, then an additional 1/4 turn. S/N 093698 and lower, 225 INCH pounds. Note, readings are in inch pounds, not foot pounds.

Assuming you're looking at the head in the vertical position as is would be installed on the block. Torque pattern starts with the two bolts in the middle of the head across from each other. These are 1 & 2. Next torque the two bolts below them. These would be 3 & 4. Next are the two bolts above 1 & 2. These are 5 & 6. keep the same pattern until you reach the end of the head. Basically, you're torquing the head starting in the middle and working your way out towards the end.

Generally gasket sealer is not necessary, however, I have used it the outer portion of the gasket around the water jacket avoiding the metal ring around the cylinders themselves.
