I haven't been into boating since my old 76 merc 50 blew up 15 years ago.
So I just bought an '89 capri 1500 with a force 50.
So far, this thing is gutless. (compared to my old merc) Right now, there is a sticker from the US coast guard saying that it is rated for a 50 hp.
However, I'm on a lake in canada.
Is there anyway to find out what the legal limit is in canada? A licensed mechanic I know said it's just a recommendation and I could probably throw an 85 on there.
the second half of this question is, if I DID stay with a 50 hp, how does the power differ between a fourstroke and a two? Is one better for pulling skiers than the other?
