Hi to everyone (new to the forum).
I have purchased a 21ft Trophy Bayliner with a Force 120 outboard in january this year. I am new to boating so I will be asking a few questions of you knowledgeable folks. The boat has not been run for the last 18 months, I bought 2 new batteries, removed spark plugs checked and cleaned but have not started the engine as of yet. Is there anything else I should check or replace before the engine is cranked?, not sure about fuel in tank I dont know how much is in there and what condition it is in.

Thanks for any Help you can give in general

Change the water pump impeller. If the fuel tank is empty, it won't start.

Re: Force 120 Outboard

Is the water pump impeller housing located at the top of the engine block looking aft with the tell tale hose coming out of it?, I guess the fuel approx is quarter full. If I get the engine block number would any body know what year the motor is.

Thanks

You have to drop the lower unit to change the impellar. Read the sticky at the top of the Main FORCE page, it gives you step by step instructions. Also i would read the how to awaken a sleeping outboard sticky in the same place. i dont think you need to go to the extreme but some of the steps might be worth taking to make sure its lubricated enough before starting.

I take it sticky is the "main man" from what I have been reading. If you can help to determine the year of the engine. Next to the Made in U.S.A. stamp on the engine block the numbers read: 800-818154-C7, Mercury Manufacture Number 0E135905
As for the Impellar I will read the instructions for disassembly.
Thanks
