Spark arrestor full of Carbon

5.7 Merc. Haveing problem getting up on plane, like the 4 barrell is not kicking in, or lack of power on top end. every now and then u can feel it kick up but does not maintain. when i looked at the carb the arrestor was pretty full of carbon. any suggestions. had the carb rebuilt 3-4 weeks ago

More likely the belts are giving off some dust from rusted pulleys along with some oil mist from the breathers

thank you, i will check the belts to see if there is new wear on them. would that also cause the lack of power on the top end or coming up on plane other then the arrestor being 50% clogged

The rust on the pulleys wear the belt down like sand paper, and clogs the flame arrestor just like dirt in an automotive air filter.
It blocks off the flow of air. No air, no power.

thank you all very much,. i will def check the pullys. and also the fuel may be a little old also. one of the reason i had it out today was to run it out. I put stabilizer in it but you never know.
