volvo 250 a/sp (151aq)

may have a blown head head Gasket or cracked block.

So I'm going to take look at head. I removed the intake/carbs (in 1 piece)
and there is 4 big intake holes and 2 small holes on the intake.

on the head there is 1 small hole aft but the matching forward hole goes in 1/4"
and is steal( blocked).
my seloc manual dosnt tell me about this and searched site and couldn't find answer.
what are these holes for and does it matter that 1 has some corrosion in it???
thanks again

Re: volvo intake holes????

Those holes are at opposite ends of the intake manifold. The holes are the water jacket. When you put on the intake gasket and the intake manifold, if you put the gasket on correctly, it will block off and seal those holes when you bolt on the manifold.

Have a great day

what is a water jacket?

it looked like the gasket came with those hole in it?

does it matter that it wasn't sealed what so ever?

But the manifold when bolted on should block it off. There should be ears on the end that will cover it.

No offence but if you do not know what a water jacket is, then maybe you should not be ripping your motor apart. It is where the coolant for the engine is.
