I keep reading about people forgetting to put in the plug. If you do leave it out and launch, How long does it take before you are in serious trouble? I am guessing it depends somewhat on size, make, etc. of the boat, but for the sake of the question, I have a 19 foot Sea Ray Bow Rider; Roughly how long would it take before I took on a dangerous amount of water?
30 sec., 5 minutes, 30 minutes? I haven't done it yet, don't want to, and have no idea.
Thanks,
Erik

Re: Another plug question

Without an automatic bilge pump about 5 mins would be my guess.

Re: Another plug question

I did it once last year with a 1970'sstartcraft alum deep v 16' I was lucky and had it almost beached next to the lauch loading up people and gear.

put it in parked the truck, messed around for a few minutes and seen the water comining up over the floor. maybe 10 minutes, then again IIRC ir was almost on bottom by that time, might have came in faster in open water.

I put the plug in, muscled it back to the launct and pulled it out....takes alot longer to come out tham it took to get in:eek:

Ayuh,... In 5 minutes, you'll know there's a Problem,....
In a 1/2 hour,... It'll be sitting on the bottom...
