Hi all, I searched the forum, but didn't get exactly what I was looking for. I have a 16.5 ft sea ray seville(my first boat). My question is, is the large stainless steel ring in the centre of the stern for towing skiers/tubes? Is it strong enough? What about the trailering eyelets, are they stong enough?

Thanks

I would not use the trailering eyelets because of the postition of them. That is what the center steel ring is for. It is reinforced and meant for pulling.

Use the circular stainless steel ring in the center of the stern. That is what it is there for and reinforced for such.

Just a safety note: NEVER attach your tow line to your tube with a metal snap ring. On a local lake near here a few years back the cloth attachment loop on a tube let go and the metal snap and line slingshoted back into the boat. It hit a female passenger in the head killing her. Every year since I still see some tubes attached this way & they are suprized when I warn them of the danger.

So if you don't have a center ring and have to use another anchor point of some kind, what do you use of not a metal hook? I've used them - not the dog snap kind, but the heavier ones. Are those bad news as well?
