I have a 1977 15' Terry fiberglass bass boat. It is a tri hull design, but it is not that apparent. The V has a pretty steep rake to it with an almost flat bottom. It has a 77 Evinrude 70 hp engine on it. I am not sure of the prop it has on it now as it has no markings indicating such. It is a little boogered up, but has been fixed before (more than once).

I want to get a little more speed out of it, it pulls very strong and reached top speed very quickly. I didn't get a chance to play with the trim as the trim motor messed up yesterday and I was unable to trim it out. Anyhoo, the motor was turning 6000 rpm at WOT. I was carrying an additional 200 pounds more than usual (fat buddy).

Can anybody suggest the right prop for me? I want to stick with aluminum because the lakes I frequent are filled with trees and it is much cheaper.

Forgotten, if you can tell me what gear ratio you have I can tell you which prop to get.

Do you have a manual for the motor, other than that I don't know. It seems all of the gear ratios I have been finding lately are wrong, that is why I asked you.

I have a Clymers manual for it I'll see if I can find anything about the gear ratio, but up until now I haven't seen anything in it, but then again I haven't totally looked.

Although the years aren't a perfect match... My 1978 Johnson manual has the following information:

Short Shaft (20") propeller gear ratio 15:28
Long Shaft (25") propeller gear ratio 12:29

FYI max recommended RPM for a 1978 75HP is 5800rpm and the 70HP is 5500rpm....

HTH...

And hwsii could I get you to come over to my Glasply thread? If possible I'd like you to run your program on my setup...
