ok the pics i promised!

started sunday by pulling the engine off in quick order no mishaps to be seen im on grass so we devised a catwalk out of pallets and the old flooring to slide the hoist forward and back. were rednecks it shows oh just wait it gets better! :)

got all the bolts out and it didnt want to budge it was a lil swollen and the lower channel was slightly chewed into the transom. so we need to use the lift that the engine was on to get it to budge. here comes the redneck parts :) youll love it i thought it was ingenious LOL

oh yes nothing a 2 inch square tubing strapped to the top couldnt fix!!!! :) LOL this is where the calvary showed up to lend a hand all hands on deck really made this project move along

i dont know if you noticed but how wide the outer board was on the transom i needed to narrow that up so i had room to mount my kicker it would go around the transom and that extra half inch board.

heres the transom and my new outer board i put a layer of glass and resin on it to make this thing like a rock!

P1010623.jpg

i also squirted some rattle cans on the rear to spruce it up till i get around to painting the whole thing i found a great color to match the the old stuff at walmart of all places. krylon ivory in satin almost exact!!!

P1010625.jpg

then slide the transom back in and started the reassembling!!

oh forgot right before i dropped it in i hit the inside with a quick coat of color thought it looked great!

and of course i missed a pic of it all done! LOL ill get one tomorrow engine is all mounted back up and ready to go ....... kinda LOL

thats why i bought it the high sides for saginaw bay. at least a foot deeper than my 18 foot starcradft was. my kid can barely see over the sidewalls when hes in it.

thats exactly what mine looked like...

i did it in a similar fashion... took some heavy wire through one of the holes, and used a big azz prybar to lift it out. it was wicked swollen from all the water, probably weighed 75lbs...

Re: 1976 Starcraft SuperSport 22' Overhaul Lotsa Pics

LOTS to update got a lot done over the last week or so. the boat however is parked in my crappy lite storage garage so pics are hard to come by. a few things that are done and approved :) floor carpeted, side panels carpeted and reinstalled, gas tank reinstalled and new hoses attached, added two batteries to the rear storage and used to battery lock down boxes to keep em from bouncing around, and installed a new bilge pump bilge hose and thru hull fitting. i just place a order with Cabelas for my seating and fish finder. waiting for that to arrive! crossing my fingers for a possible sunday dunking to do a test on the main engine and kicker motor. we'll see what the week brings!!

8-7-09 Finally a update with some new pics! as i said earlier we been plugging along but had the boat over in my storage garage with horrible lighting so i havent been as pic crazy but today we dragged it out and got a lil more work done

here's how we started today with carpeting the dash where the PO had riddled it with holes quick easy and a clean look. no i didnt waterproof the aluminum before we covered it :) ;) lol you can alos see the floor carpet down and the sidewalls as well and the lil shelves it creates.

P1010637.jpg

i had to rebuild on rear slider door and both of the cockpit bulkheads. i painted the backside of the cockpit bulkheads brown to match the carpet and i didnt see the need of carpeting them on that side this is the side where you feet sit if that makes better sense. the front side will be carpeted pictured below

after hittin all those pieces with waterproofing :) i thne threw some carpet on them and got a few pieces installed. the rear slider dorrs are just sitting in place as i have to decide if im painting the metal grates or not thinking an ivory to match the seats you can alos see my previous unpictured work. remounts the tank and mounted my starting battery and fish finder battery

P1010641.jpg

i then had to rebuild the passenger dash as i will do the drivers side too at a later date i used 3/4 plywood and some left over almond frp (fiberglass reinforced panel) look this stuff up its amazing ive used it extensively on a lot of projects. also the previous dash ahd the glove box centered i slide it far left to make room for a radio or vhf marine radio to be mounted there.

oh and a sidenote i got 3/4"-7/8" grip range 3/16" rivets 460 of em for 19 bucks! guy didnt wanna weigh em out and i only wanted 20 bucks worth. he said eh the box has been opened take whats in there.... gee ok! lol so i got a ton of rivets left over so far made a mistake and only got 1/2-5/8 originally couldnt get a good grip thru my 1/2 ply and carpet and aluminim wouldnt quite cut it. 3/4-7/8 has worked great!

Rick they may have been by piece. either way eh didtn wanna count em or weigh em. but i got em at the Fastenal store. dont know if they have em where you are. but they got every fastener you ever need! and they will break the boxes you dont have to buy the whole box up here anyways.

I will have to check with other Fastenal stores here Chad the one I talked to wanted to sell me 500 closed end rivets and I only needed about 30 of them . I ended up geting them on my Grainger account ( still had to buy 250 ) but at least it wasnt 500 :D.
