Yes, I am a newbie, I tilted my 96 evinrude 30hp engine up to tow.
The motor cable( i believthat is what it is, a bunch of wires bundled in a cable that made it so my engine wont do a thing when 4 wires are cut in two!), got crimped in between the engine and stern. My question is do I replace the whole cable, or use some electrical connectors and electric tape to repair.

I think you are referring to the electrical cable as opposed to the throttle/shift cable. Personally, I would replace the entire cable. It's only going cost about $100 (used one could be less) and if you just splice the old one back together, it will be a place for corrosion to start (wire connectors will more than likley be a different metal), which could cause problems later on down the road. If you do decide to just splice the wires back together, I would use plenty of heat shrink to help prevent the corrosion.

err..disconnect battery before touching the wires.

If the internal wire looks good repair it, if its black or turning dark replace it.

Strip more wire back, solder it, don't use any other type of connection.
Heat shrink , then liquid eletricians tape ( black glue) and wrap with friction tape or something similar.

It might help in future to use a wire shield tube that lets you bundle everything together.
