Add straps to cover?

I just bought an off the shelf cover and it mostly fits. However, I'd like to add a couple more straps because there are a couple areas that need to be held down better.

I think I saw some straps that would just "snap" over the material with no need to sew or poke holes in the new cover to attach them.....but I havent been able to find them online. Any tips?

Not sure what type of cover you've got... my off the shelf cover from Wally-World has four loops down each side that I used bungees to secure it to the trailer. I don't trailer the boat with the cover on so those four are sufficient for the covering the boat sitting in the driveway.

This link has a few various types of tiedowns that might help you out.

when you add straps make sure they are tight and that all straps that connect the cover to the boat/trailer have a 'towing strap'.

My first cover didn't have that and when I moved from Borden to Petawawa I Had a 10 ft flag on my boat:eek:

it was funny when people passed me I couldn't understand the looks until someone pointed @ my trailer, and the wife noticed that there was a huge hole in the cover, pulled over asap, and it was awesome wish I could find the pictures:D

Ya might want to go with a roll of webbing to go across the the boat from one side to the other. My cover has a spot where water won't drain because the bimini laying across the back acts like a six inch high dam and will hold about 60 gallons of rain. I put a pool float back there so water doesn't accumulate. I think Attwood makes a brace system to help raise the cover so water doesn't build up.

Have a canvas shop sew on some tie down points for you. Get a bar of soap and put an "X" on the cover while it is on your boat to let them know where to put them.
