Re: Any one have a homemade pontoon boat trailer

That's what I use. Started with a stripped down frame from a 26' travel trailer. My toon is 20' so this allowed it to be forward enough to give proper tongue weight, then I cut the excess off the back. This avoided shifting the axles. Mine is a tandem with electric brakes. Paid $200 and put in about $200 fabricating the bunks. Worked out well so far.

Bondo :All i get when i look at your thread is little Red X's.... Must be my end?

Jeepman : You got a pic of it ??

I have a couple of Smaller trailers i could use. Its not for towing around the county just need it to get the boat in and out of the lake. Mabey one mile down the road. to our properaty.

Sorry, no photos yet. I want to finish everything, like the bow stop and winch before I show off my creation.
I was worried about the height, but after swapping out the wheels for 14", it's only a couple of inches above a manufactured bunk trailer. I too only have to go a short distance to the lake but would have no quams in taking it on the highway.
Figure what length you would need, allowing for where the boat would sit for good tongue weight. Remember, travel trailers are measured from tongue to tail lights. I found mine on Kijiji. Look there or Craigslist. Don't know the size of your boat, but with tandem 3500 lb. axles, they will take any size.
