I am having a dickens of a time getting the flare nut to start in the cylinder of the power trim. Its the hose that threads in with the band around it. Is there any tricks, is it really possible, or shall I just keep turning and hope it catches or lines up properly.
It is a 1977 85 evinrude.
Thanks

Re: Power trim flare nut

Ok, I see now. I have stripped the flare nut. The band was the nut that held the flare against the cylinder. It didn't actually screw into the cylinder. Now I need a new hose with the nut and band. looks like you have to take the motor bracket off to get the cylinder off, to get the pump off to unscrew the hose?

Is there a fix to this stripped flare nut without replacing this high priced hose?
Anyone have a used hose for sale?

Could this hose be the same for a Volvo Penta 850907-7. They sure look the same in a picture. Sierra 18-2121?

I took my hose, cylinder and band/nut to a hydraulic shop in town and waked away with a new hose with ends for $26.09. Put it on and it worked perfect.
